My Name Is Samantha, And I’m Addicted To Pinterest

In case you have never heard of it (have you been living under a rock??), Pinterest is pretty much an online cork board of ideas that you can “pin” to your personal boards for later use. It’s basically DIY heaven. I spend hours and hours looking at all the crafty ideas and getting inspired. Hell, it’s currently 12:47am and I am still surfing Pinterest! So if you have a job and a life, stay away from Pinterest, it’s a total time suck. It’s given me delicious meal ideas, things for me to sew, and ways to spruce up my house with a little DIY. Gawd I love this site.

Currently I am working on girlifying one of my Gears of War t-shirts. It is so hard to find good gamer/geek/nerd type shirts that are flattering to for women to wear, so I have decided that I will fix that problem myself. I picked out a shirt I bought off eBay last year. It was said to be a promo shirt for Gears 3, but there is no way it’s legit. That’s ok though, I didn’t pay all that much for it anyway. Seeing as this is my first time since high school to use a sewing machine, I didn’t want to try it on one of my more loved shirts. I am still working on it, so bear with me on this picture. So far all I have done is cut the neck for more room and adjusted the left sleeve. It may look like all I did was cut it, but you’d be wrong. I had to remove the sleeve and cut it to be more female styled, and then sewed it back on. Doesn’t sound that hard, and really it wasn’t, just a little time-consuming. I am going to opening up the back of it a little and im debating on bringing in the sides a little. We’ll see what I decide this weekend.

Another idea I stumbled upon tonight was converting my living room closet into an entryway nook. Loved how the one on The House Of Smiths site came out, and I think it would make our living room feel that more much open. In their makeover they had to cut into the wall, our closet would be so much easier because all I would need to do is take off the doors. I’ll add some trim and add a shelf, but I think this would be a pretty inexpensive way to make the living room look awesome. I am pretty excited about this idea, now to convince the hubby. Who know, I may just wait and do it one weekend when he’s out of town haha. (I love you Mykal – just incase you’re reading this).

A couple of weeks ago my dad gave me this 4 drawer dresser. I had said I needed another dresser and he happened to have a spare one. However it wasn’t very easy on the eyes. It’s a reddish color with  aqua drawers. He got it from someone else and had originally planned on painting it and keeping it. So when I got it I had the same idea to paint it, but when my dad showed up with two more dressers a few days later, I now have entirely new plan for it. I currently have my huge microwave rigged to sit on a bookshelf. Is doesn’t quite fit and is just barely sitting on it. Well this new dresser will be converted into a cabinet! It’s big and sturdy and will be a great way to add more pantry space to this place. Plus, we can take it with us when we move one day. Maybe I’ll start this next week, I will have to take a trip to Home Depot for some plywood first, but I’m thinking that this shouldn’t be too difficult, just time-consuming.

I have a few more ideas for the house, but I’ll just wait until I accomplish a few at a time before I go crazy and post about them all. By the way, don’t mind the poor picture quality, it’s the middle of the night and our lighting sucks. Also, my one year old tore apart our living room today, so that picture might be a little cluttered.
