Sexist Jerk? Or Common Douchebag?

Man this last week has been super busy and I am just exhausted, and maybe fiending a little for some game time. Things at work have picked up and I have more responsibility, family has been visiting, and we have gone to visit family, Ally is growing up and trying to crawl and walk, and of course I have to make time for my hubby. With all that going on, it’s hard to get time to play games or blog, but I guess I’m learning about time management. Too bad I need to sleep, that’s the best time of day, well night actually, for gaming, cleaning and blogging. It seems I need to become a vampire. Yea, that was a Twilight reference. Wait! Don’t unsubscribe! I’m a Potter fan first! Haha. Anyways, when I do find time to game, I like to enjoy it and primarily play with my friends, that way I know I am getting into a good and fun match. Too bad last night didn’t turn out that way.

Oh I am ready to rant and rave about this one. It was another busy evening filled with taking care of Ally and having mom stop by to visit for a bit. Mom had to leave at like 8:00 pm or so and at about 9:00 pm we decided we would lay Ally down for bed and that maybe I could get some game time in. Ally fell asleep around 9:30 pm or so. I was planning on getting a solid 30 minutes of Gears time before heading off to bed myself. So I turn on the xbox and check my stats and medals, having a look at what I could focus on to help get me an Onyx medal sooner. All is well. At first I was planning on getting into a private match by myself and playing some horde, but then I figured that it would be more fun if I had more people to play with and I jumped into a public match. My first match lasted all of 20 seconds with a full team, then they all left and I was alone. I said screw it, I was going to play by myself originally anyway. So after the build fortifications time is up, I hear my character yell “Here they come!” but they never came. The horde wasn’t attacking, which is odd. So I take off on a run around the map to try and find something to shoot. Alas, there was nothing. It was merely a glitch of some sort, and the horde had moved out and gone elsewhere. Fine. Game glitch. It happens.

So I try for another public match. I join and everything seems fine. We have a full team of five, and we are on Rustlung. Sounds like a good mix, no one left, and we have a decent
map. Sounds like it’s time for locust killing fun! Oh boy was I wrong. Right from the get go I had one of the other players following me around while I set up spikes. I figured eh, maybe he is just seeing where I am putting down spikes or something. Nope. Next thing I know he is just hitting me with his weapons. It doesn’t do any damage or anything, just a minor inconvenience. I go about my business and try to kill as many locusts as I can, only thing is, this guy won’t let me get any good shots in. He just kept chasing me wherever I would go, hit me with his weapon, and stand in front of my shots. Wave 1 ends, and even after having this guy messing with me, I did pretty good. Wave 2 starts. And with another wave, comes another jerk. Another guy jumps in to help be a pain in the ass and also hits me with his weapons, follows me around the map, and blocks my shots. I figured it would end after a few minutes, but it didn’t. One guy ended up leaving the match entirely, and the third guy decides to help the other two harass my character. It wouldn’t do any good to turn on my mic and yell at them, especially with Ally asleep not far from me, so I just try to out maneuver them and get as many kills as possible. It was my way of saying “even with you guys being douchebags, I can still get more kills than you”. I didn’t want to give them the satisfaction of leaving right away and I didn’t want to show them that I was getting pissed off (don’t feed the trolls), so I hung in there until wave 5. In wave 5 we all died, because they wouldn’t stop being asses and move so I wouldn’t be downed, and then when I was downed they all figured it’d be a great idea to gangbang my character, which is what got them killed. By this point, I am just fed up with it. I don’t get a lot of game time, and I am not going to waste it with a bunch of assholes.

I want to take a quick detour from my main story real quick and say that, in all my time gaming, this kind of thing has never happened to me. Sure there have been teabagged moments in Halo, but that is a common occurrence because Halo players are so arrogant and cocky. I like Halo as much as the next person, so I’m not ragging on them, just saying that in my experience, there tends to be teabagging from everyone in almost every match. But when this kind of thing happens to me, unwarranted, from my own teammates, it made me wonder if it’s because I am a girl? Now you all know where I stand on the whole gamer girl thing and how they demand equal treatment, so this is not me saying “How unfair! They were so mean! You should be nice to me because I am a girl with feelings!” I’m not saying that at all. I’m just saying that I have never wondered if they were being sexist bastards or just regular douchebags. But considering there was another guy who didn’t mess with me, and didn’t get messed with, I’m going to chalk this one up to them being sexist assholes. Again, I will deal with whatever happens when I play online; because that is just the risk you take when you decide you want to play online. But I do think that players should be more respectful, regardless of gender, all I wanted to do was play a little horde to relax and wind down my busy day, but instead I had some jack wagon try to teach me a lesson. Next time, just boot me from the match; don’t waste my time and yours because you need to show the world you have a penis and can play better than I can, which by the way, you don’t. It’s things like this that make me only want to play with my friends only, but I’m a big girl, and this won’t break me down or anything. I’ll just write about it here in my blog and put their GTs on blast: D0lla B1lls, fortehwin123, and batedleaf60205. Yup those are the jerks, so if you’re feeling froggy and want to spam them, be my guest, but it’s no skin off my back either way.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

So now we have wasted my 30 minutes with two failed matches. Maybe the third time is the charm. We get to the setup screen, and everyone is still there. So far so good. We vote on what map we will be playing, ok that’s done, now to make sure we like our character and weapons… wait what the… damn. There go two of them before we even start. Fine, three players isn’t bad. Wave 1 and 2, no problems… aw seriously?! And then there were two. Not only that, it became laggy, so screw this, I’m jumping ship also. I decide that I am going to try for one more public match, just one more. Five people, Gridlock, I like it. But just like the rest of my games I’ve had this evening, we lose two players only a couple waves in. But since there were three of us left and we doing really good, I stayed. The three if us played up to maybe round 6 or so, and one guy dropped out. I was not going to leave and find another match, this was my last public search I was going to have for the night, I was sticking with it. This other guy and I cleaned up with no problem. Until wave 10. We had killed everything in the wave except the Lambent berserker. I’d like to think we were pretty close to taking her down as well, but unfortunately I went to dodge and was halted by a vehicle and run over by the berserker. I tried to crawl away so she wouldn’t run me over again and kill me, and I wasn’t quick enough. And she must have downed the guy because we promptly died. I wanted to keep playing with him, but I had wasted so much time in the previous attempts at a good match, that I had to sign off and go to bed so I would be able to get up in the morning for work.

It was a frustrating night of gaming, but I got to game none the less, and even ended it on a good note. I’m ready for some more Gears this weekend, probably tonight since family will be coming in tomorrow and Sunday, but that’s ok. When they sleep I can play haha. I have also decided that I want to get a capture card so I can record all the good and bad moments of my game time, so any suggestions would be awesome. I’ve heard good things about Roxio. Well, I think I’ve written more than enough for the moment. I’ll be back on soon. Hopefully. Until next time!
